On November 6, 2025, ExxonMobil farmed in to Block 2, which is located in the northwest part of the Ionian Sea.
ExxonMobil acquired 60% W.I., Energean maintains 30%, and HELLENiQ ENERGY the remaining 10%.
Energean remains the Operator of the concession through the exploration stage. Block 2 is the most mature concession in Greece in terms of readiness for exploratory drilling.
Subject to permitting, drilling is panned to take place in February 2027. Energean has contracted Stena DrillMAX.
This drilling operation will be the first exploratory offshore drilling in Greece since 1986 and Energean has submitted an Environmental & Social Impact Assessment for approval.*

BLOCK 2 ENVIRONMENTAL UNIT
Energean has established an Environmental Unit (EU) for Block 2 in accordance with the requirements of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the Ionian offshore concession areas. The Environmental Unit is responsible for environmental monitoring, impact management and communication with stakeholders and competent authorities.
